“PRECIOUS; discovering the value of waste”
Designers Valentino Marengo and Ersi Krouska propose design ‘recipes’ and present ideas for re-using and up-cycling materials, objects and products, demonstrating a lifestyle with minimal environmental impact.
Everything in the event, from the exhibits to the way the exhibition is designed and laid out, adopt a creative approach that results in the least possible waste. It is a challenge for today’s society, which is still used to consuming and generating waste at an unsustainable rate.
The exhibition features video-references from the Sanitary Landfill of Athens. The aim is to reflect on our way of living and provide the stimulus for reconsidering the problem of waste generation in the cities and its impact on the environment.
For the occasion of the international Italian Design Day, the Italian Embassy in Greece and the Italian Institute of Culture in Athens presented the design exhibition “PRECIOUS; discovering the value of waste” at the Italian Institute of Culture in Athens, 1-21 March 2018

Οι designers Valentino Marengo και Έρση Κρούσκα, μας προτείνουν σχεδιαστικές «συνταγές» και μας παρουσιάσουν ιδέες για την επανά-χρηση και το up-cycling υλικών, αντικειμένων και προϊόντων, υποδεικνύοντας έναν τρόπο ζωής, με ελάχιστες επιπτώσεις στο περιβάλλον.
Από τα έργα που εκτίθενται μέχρι τον σχεδιασμό και το στήσιμο της έκθεσης, όλα ακολουθούν μια προσέγγιση δημιουργίας, με όσο το δυνατόν λιγότερα απόβλητα. Μια πρόκληση για τη σημερινή κοινωνία, που είναι ακόμη συνηθισμένη στο να καταναλώνει και να δημιουργεί απόβλητα με έναν μη οικολογικό τρόπο.
Στην έκθεση υπάρχουν βίντεο-αναφορές από τον Χώρο Υγειονομικής Ταφής Απορριμμάτων της Αθήνας. Σκοπός είναι να συλλογιστούμε τον τρόπο που ζούμε και να δοθούν ερεθίσματα, για να επανεξετάσουμε το πρόβλημα της παραγωγής σκουπιδιών στις πόλεις και το αντίκτυπο που αυτό έχει στο περιβάλλον.
Με αφορμή τον εορτασμό της Παγκόσμιας ημέρας Ιταλικού Design, η Ιταλική Πρεσβεία στην Ελλάδα και το Ιταλικό Μορφωτικό Ινστιτούτο Αθηνών, παρουσίασαν την έκθεση design «PRECIOUS, discovering the value of waste», στο Ιταλικό Μορφωτικό Ινστιτούτο Αθηνών, 1 – 21 Μαρτίου 2018
